Lobsang Yangchen fled Tibet at the age of six alongside a group of other Tibetans. Since then, she had no contact with her family in Tibet. At such a young age, she was on her own under the care of Tibetan Children’s Village school in Dharamsala. Her school teacher commends her for her resilience and determination to achieve her goals.

With the support of the Tibetan Girls Scholarship Program, she was able to enroll in the General Nursing and Midwifery Program at NITTE Usha Institute of Nursing Science in Mysore.

Currently she is nearing the completion of her first year, and has been enjoying her postings in villages where she educates community members on health and well-being.
